Founded in 2006, Digital Strike Targeted Marketing is a leading digital marketing & SEO company located in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2015, Digital Strike needed a new corporate location and soon acquired a vacant and decaying gas station in Webster Groves, a suburb of St. Louis; it planned to rehab. In keeping with this theme of making something old, new again, Digital Strike commissioned Rustic Grain to fabricate their office furniture using reclaimed barnwood.
The Challenge
The original building (a 50+ year old gas station) was gloomy and dark, with literally no natural light. It had all the characteristics of an abandoned gas station….which it was! The new plans for renovating this space were primarily focused on increasing the natural light in the overall space and making it feel much more inviting. Equally important, the items needed to be functional as work spaces and have the necessary electrical inputs.
Rustic Grain was tasked to help bring the uniqueness of this newly converted space to life through creating a main conference table as well as employee desks.
The Approach
After two client meetings and a site survey with Rustic Grain’s design team, we finalized a design fitting to this space’s prior history, one that would showcase the natural light of this newly rehabilitated space and serve employee requirements.
These custom pieces incorporated reclaimed pine barnwood tops with a light oil finish to accent the grain of the pine with the natural light. As for the bases, we created custom industrial pipe bases. The base configuration is intended to highlight the space’s original architectural elements. Lastly, flip-up electrical outlets were fabricated into the conference table to allow for quick power access.
